Name 10 of your favorite Broadway shows
Oh goodness. (These are in no particular order. And I love many more, I just can’t choose what I love the most.)
1. Into the Woods
2. Seussical
3. Les Miz
4. The Little Mermaid
5. Avenue Q
6. Godspell
7. Rent
8. Wicked (yes, stereotypical, I know. Sue me.)
9. Beauty and the Beast
10. How to Succeed - tied with Newsies. :P
Have you ever seen these shows live? If so, where?
All of them, except, sadly, #1. But my DVD version is so overwatched, it’s ridiculous. Actually, I’ve never seen a professional production of Les Miz live. I’ve seen a high school version. And I’ve been in an awesome production of it. So I guess that counts.
What’s your favorite song from play 2?
Such decisions…especially since the whole show is like one big song. I have to say, All For You. Because it’s in my audition book. :P
I lied, it’s a tie between Alone in the Universe and Solla Sollew. They’re just so pretty and surprisingly deep.
Who’s your favorite character from play 4?
Ariel. Duh.
What’s your favorite scene from play 5?
Any scene with the Bad News Bears.
Also, “Give Us Your Money!” was hilarious when I saw it. They took this woman’s purse and just brought it onstage with them. (They gave it back later, obviously.)
What’s your favorite quote from play 8?
“It’s good to see me, isn’t it? No need to answer,
that was rhetorical.”
From play 5, which character are you most like?
Hahahahaha. Kate Monster. Totally.
Can you quote every line from play 1?
Not as well as Mike Walsh, but I’m not too shabby.
How many times have you seen play 3?
On Youtube? 5 gazillion. In KT? 3 months worth of rehearsals & performances. On B’way? None.
If you could play anyone from play 6, who would it be? Why?
Myself? That’s kind of a unique show in terms of casting.
What’s your favorite song from play 7?
La Vie Boheme. Try singing that at the top of your lungs while walking down the streets of NYC and NOT feel completely awesome.
What’s your favorite lyric from play 4?
“Dancing is a language that is felt instead of heard…you can whisper, scream or shout without so much as a word.”
Out of all these plays, which one is your absolute favorite?
It’s a tie between Into the Woods and Seussical. Which is funny because they’re kind of polar opposites…
I also have a special place in my heart reserved for Les Miz, because it’s what introduced me to the wonderful world of theatre.
What’s the best musical they turned into a movie?
Do DVDs of the stage productions count? :P
The Hairspray movie was actually pretty good, which was surprising since I’m not crazy about that show to begin with.
Is there a musical you DON’T like?
YES.
If so, which one? Why?
MAMMA MIA. It’s just…boring. I never have gone to a B’way show and wanted to go home by intermission. Except for that show. I don’t know why…I just. Didn’t like it. And I enjoy ABBA music as much as the next person.
